• Hawaii Diaries #3 – Maha’ulepu, Hiking and Dolphins too!

The plan for day 3 was to explore the southern beaches starting with the Maha’ulepu beaches. Our afternoon was already booked with a catamaran ride so we didn’t have a ton of time to waste. We popped Gillin’s Beach into the GPS and set off. The Maha’ulepu area is somewhat off the beaten path. You drive down a paved road(Poipu Rd) past a hotel and suddenly find yourself on a red dirt road. I started to see why people like to rent Jeep’s as my Hyundai bounced up and down the rocky terrain. This is an area where 4WD certainly might help. We quickly ran into an obstacle in the…

  • Hawaii Diaries #2 – Exploring Kapaa, Chickens Galore and a Costco Visit

Hawaii Rocks. It was nice to finally see it in the day time after a day of travel. The goal of day two was to get more acclimated to the island but it turned into a day of Exploring Kapaa, a small town on the east side of the island. I started the day early as I am today. It’s real easy to wake up at 4 A.M. local time here when you’re from the east coast. After all, it’s 9 A.M. my time right now and I never sleep in late. The sun hadn’t come up yet and the roosters were making noise. Did I mention there’s tons of…

Hawaii Diaries #1 – Travel and My Hawaiian Airlines Flight

Guys, it’s 5:00 A.M. Hawaii time. It’s the start of day 2 of my Hawaii honeymoon. The below was written during day 1 on my Hawaii Airlines flight to Honolulu. The Travel Day I’m 8791 km away from New York and the outside air temperature is -69 degrees F. At least, that’s what the screen on my Hawaii Airlines flight is telling me right now.  That’s right guys, it’s honeymoon time! Unfortunately, travel comes with travel time; the total crap part of the trip.  The part where we have to spend an entire day flying. It’s an 11 hour flight to Honolulu from JFK. The cool part(sarcasm) is that’s not…

Coming to America in search of the American Dream

Welcome to part two in my series of introductory posts. The first one was about my time in Poland and you can check it out here. If your goal is to know more about some random immigrant on the internet then start there. This second part is all about come over here and chasing that old American dream. In the last episode, I had just left Poland and was ready to start the next chapter in my life which didn’t mean much since I was 10. In this episode, I’m talking about Coming to America. It’s a good movie but it’s also what this post is about. Coming to America…

Lessons learned from growing up in Poland with a little side of communism

I started this blog a while ago but I’ve never had a good introduction. In fact, my about page is really lacking. It’s time to fix that! What follows is the first of a few posts I’ll write to flesh out my about me page. It’ll be a proper introduction to the person behind the blog. In this one, I’ll cover my early years in Poland. I was a wee lad and didn’t understand much but I’ll try my best to remember the important things. The first ten years of my life were spent in Poland. Communism was all the rage back then, at least for the first few years…
