• My finance blog is changing a little bit

I originally started this website with two intentions. The first was to track my spending and portfolio. In essence, it was to be a simple finance blog. The goal was to force myself to save more. In that regard, it has worked very well. The second goal was to become a better writer. What better venue to do that than a blog where I could talk about all things finance. In that regard, it has worked decently. I have written quite a bit about the world of money. My writing style and quality have both improved. People have commented and visited my blog and it’s been exciting to see it…

Golfing Like a Pro – Trying Golf for the First Time in my Life

Let’s play that golf – my first time golfing Worried about your first time golfing? I was! Golf has always been a mystery to me. It’s a game that seemed inaccessible when I was growing up. You needed clubs, balls, special clothing and then you had to pay the course fees too. That’s a lot of cash to spend especially when you’re pretty poor. It seemed so much easier just to buy a basketball and go to a court. Hell, you could even go to the court and use someone else’s basketball. In the last episode, I had just left Poland and was ready to start the next chapter in my life which didn’t mean much since I was 10. In this episode, I’m talking about Coming to America. It’s a good movie but it’s also what this post is about. Coming to America…

Lessons learned from growing up in Poland with a little side of communism

I started this blog a while ago but I’ve never had a good introduction. In fact, my about page is really lacking. It’s time to fix that! What follows is the first of a few posts I’ll write to flesh out my about me page. It’ll be a proper introduction to the person behind the blog. In this one, I’ll cover my early years in Poland. I was a wee lad and didn’t understand much but I’ll try my best to remember the important things. The first ten years of my life were spent in Poland. Communism was all the rage back then, at least for the first few years…

Visiting all of the book stores in Connecticut for $500 in gift cards!

Guys, apparently April 28th is independent book store day. Who knew? I sure didn’t until Friday(the 27th). That’s when my buddy Facebook told me about it. It said “hey dude, check out this event your friends are interested in, it’s cool and stuff.” It was the Independent Bookstore Day Passport and it was happening in Connecticut. Apparently, 20 indie book stores in Connecticut got together and organized a cool little event. Here’s how it works. You go to any participating bookstore and pick up a sheet. Said sheet has a map and list of all 20 stores. If you can visit 15 of the 20 stores between 4/28 and 4/29…
