• Reviewing Financial Goals – 2019 Halfway Point Review

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s already the halfway point of 2019. That means it’s time for us to be reviewing financial goals. Financial goals are great. However, they’re no good if you never check in to see how you’re doing. It’s like when you’re cooking something. You want to taste it once in a while before it’s done to see if you need to season more. Otherwise, you’ll end up with something that tastes like a boot; no flavor! It’s the same with goals! That’s why reviewing financial goals is important if you set some. After all, how the hell are you supposed to know how you’re doing? The best part…

  • Chalkboard with new year's resolutions on it

It’s Easy to Fail Your New Year’s Resolutions but You Should Keep Trying

It’s June, the perfect time to talk about new year’s resolutions! Remember those? The things you probably set sometime six months ago? We all wake up January 1st and say to ourselves, “this is the year, this year will be different.” This is the year we’ll work out, or lose weight, or read more, or whatever we set our minds to do in the next 12 months. How does that end up going? Well, not great as around 80% of people fail or give up on their new year’s resolutions by February. That’s a pretty quick rate of giving up. It’s the most common thread that ties us together when…

  • 2019 financial goals

My 2019 Financial Goals – Nine Goals to Aim For in 2019

Goals are cool guys. It’s like, they help you aim towards something and stuff. I’ve been setting goals since 2017 and have found them a useful guidepost. They’re a good motivator too especially when I do quarterly reviews and see that I’m behind. Initially I started with some personal goals but I’ve split those apart and am only focusing on 2019 financial goals here. I generally try to set these at the tail end of the year so I’m a bit late in 2019. However, I figured waiting till I reviewed my 2018 goals was a good idea so I could have a good barometer for setting next year’s goals.…

  • The 2018 Annual Goal Review!

It’s time for the annual goal review! I set these bad boys at the end of 2017 and am ready to see how I did. You’ll notice I didn’t set my 2019 goals yet and there’s a reason for that. I wanted to see 2018 results to see what kind of goals make sense for next year. Related : My 2018 Annual Goals If you haven’t read my goals before know that I do them Olympics style. That means there’s a gold, silver and bronze level for each. The idea is for bronze to be a reasonable goal and for it to get harder from there. If I do these right then gold should…

  • 5 Attainable Personal Goals for 2019

You can call them resolutions or you can call them personal goals but the end result is the same; the hope of improvement in the new year. It’s 2019 and another year is in the books. It’s trite but right to say how fast time flies. I started the year engaged, content with my boring insurance job and lazy about writing, exercise, health and hobbies. I end 2018 married, fresh off an amazing honeymoon and in a new director role. I’m still lazy about all that other stuff but the rest is a big win! It’s easy to look back at 2018 and see it as one of the best…
